What We Do
Monitoring, investigations, data, rights work, research and reporting, all in one platform.
Power Lens does one job in several ways: it helps people see how power works in Bangladesh and hold it to account. Our work is organised into the areas below.
Our work
Watch is our continuous monitoring of politics, government, parliament, elections, political finance, public money, procurement and local government.
Investigations are in-depth, evidence-based stories on corruption, money trails, power networks, public contracts, land and property.
Data holds our databases and open data on politicians, elections, government spending, procurement, corruption cases and human rights cases.
Rights monitors human rights, including freedom of expression and assembly, press freedom, detention, torture, enforced disappearances, minority, women's, children's and labour rights, and digital rights.
Research publishes reports, policy briefs, working papers, surveys and indexes.
Newsroom covers what has happened: briefs, analysis, statements and corrections.
Fact Check tests claims made by politicians, officials and on social media, and shows the evidence behind each rating.
Power Map shows how people, companies, contracts and institutions are connected.
Report an issue lets anyone tell us about corruption, abuse of power, rights violations, election irregularities or misuse of public money.
How the parts fit together
- Watch is what we monitor all the time.
- Newsroom is what happened.
- Investigations are what we looked into in depth.
- Research is what the evidence and data show.
How we work
Nothing is published on impulse. Every story follows the same path:
Tip, verification, evidence, investigation, publication, correction or update.
Not every tip becomes an investigation, and not every accusation is treated as a finding. We check sources, ask those we write about for a response, and publish corrections openly. The full process is in our methodology.
What we do not do
- We do not publish accusations without evidence.
- We do not publish leaked material before it has been verified and reviewed for legal and safety risks.
- We do not take instructions from political parties, governments or donors about what to publish.
