Whistleblower Portal
A secure way to share sensitive information if you are at risk or your information could identify you.
If you have seen corruption, abuse of power or a violation of rights, and telling us could put you at risk, use one of the secure channels below. Do not use the ordinary report forms or email.
How to reach us securely
[TO ADD: your secure channels, with the exact details. For example: an encrypted messaging number, a secure submission system, and a way to reach a named contact. Explain each in a sentence.]
Before you send anything
- Use a personal device that others cannot access, and not your work computer or phone.
- Do not use your workplace network or workplace accounts.
- Consider using tools designed to protect your privacy, such as encrypted messaging and Tor Browser, and understand their limits. No method is completely safe.
- Remove personal information and hidden data from files where you can.
- Think about who else has the same information or files. Unique copies can lead back to you.
- Do not tell colleagues what you are planning.
- Consider getting legal advice first. [TO ADD: legal support organisations you can refer people to]
What to tell us
- What you know, and how you know it.
- When and where it happened, and who was involved.
- What evidence exists, and where it is held. Do not send anything you are not comfortable sharing.
- Whether we can contact you, how, and when it is safe to do so.
What happens next
We acknowledge your message if you have given us a way to reply. A small group assesses the information and the risks to you. We verify it, and we tell you what we decide. You can withdraw at any time. Read the details in our whistleblower protection and source protection policies.
What we cannot promise
We cannot promise legal protection from the people or authorities you report on, or a particular result. We will never reveal your identity without your informed consent, except where we are legally compelled, and we explain the limits in our source protection policy.
Not sensitive?
If your information is not sensitive, you can use the ordinary report forms.
