Mission, Vision & Values
Why Power Lens exists, the Bangladesh we want to see, and the principles we hold ourselves to.
Our mission
To watch power, expose abuse and defend rights in Bangladesh, by turning evidence into public knowledge and action.
Our vision
A Bangladesh where everyone who holds public power is open to scrutiny, answerable to the people and bound by the rule of law, and where every person can claim their rights without fear.
Our values
Evidence before opinion
We publish what we can prove and say clearly what we cannot. Allegations are presented as allegations. Facts are presented with their sources.
Independence
We do not act for any party, government, business or donor. Funders do not decide what we investigate or what we publish.
Fairness
Anyone we write about is given a fair chance to respond before publication. We report what people say in their defence as carefully as we report what is said against them.
Care for people
Sources, whistleblowers and the people affected by abuse can face real risks. We protect them, and we weigh the public interest against possible harm before we publish.
Openness
We publish our methods, our corrections and our funding. We share data openly wherever the law and safety allow.
Rights for everyone
We defend the rights of all people in Bangladesh equally, whatever their politics, religion, gender, ethnicity, class or beliefs.
